Precision Planting Announces GPS Mapping Support Tools for the 20/20 SeedSense® Planter Monitor Data

Tremont, IL - April 28, 2008 - Precision Planting announced today the availability of GPS Mapping Support Tools for the new 20/20 SeedSense System. Working with MapShots, Inc. the release of a new Windows driver and a free GPS Mapping Viewer, makes utilizing mapping information in a detailed, practical format easily available for operations.

Precision Planting is releasing the software driver to allow any industry standard (FODM) compliant GPS mapping software to import and view data gathered by the 20/20 SeedSense planter monitor. FODM compliant software can also export configuration data directly to the 20/20 SeedSense display unit. Data on the 20/20 SeedSense available for GPS mapping includes:GPS Mapping

  • Population
  • Singulation - Skips and Doubles
  • Seed Spacing
  • Down Force
  • Down Force Margin - Excess Down Force
  • Ground Contact - Loss of Planting Depth Indicator
  • Smooth Ride - Amount of Row Unit Bounce
  • Planting Speed
  • Hex Shaft Error
  • Loss per Acre - Due to Planting Defects
  • Vacuum

In addition, a free GPS Mapping Viewer developed by MapShots, Inc. is also available. The viewer allows growers without an existing or FODM compliant farm management tool to import and view their 20/20 SeedSense data. At this time, MapShots EASi Suite and Farmworks support the 20/20 SeedSense FODM driver. AgLeader SMS will support the driver in a future release.

For growers wanting to view 20/20 SeedSense data in a non-FODM compliant farm management application, the free GPS mapping viewer allows growers to export their 20/20 SeedSense data to a Shapefile. A Shapefile (.shp) is a digital format used to store primitive geometrical data. These files will allow you to utilize the mapped data in other farm management software.
