Firm the Seed
When seeds don't make it to the bottom of the furrow, there is an air gap that causes a delay in emergence. SmartFirmer presses each seed to the bottom of the furrow, removing air pockets, to improve seed-to-soil contact and give you a crop stand you can be proud of.
Collects Data from the Sidewalls of the Seed Trench
SmartFirmer is a sensor that is firming the seed while measuring the furrow and sending feedback to the 20|20. View data from the soil such as organic matter, seed available moisture, clean furrow, live CEC data, and temperature.
Furrow Uniformity
A consistent environment is essential for uniform seed germination and plant growth. SmartFirmer identifies any irregularities along the furrow, at every eighth of an inch, such as soil clods, air space, and dry soil falling from the surface, so that you can have the insight to correct row-unit performance and solve these yield-robbing problems.

Soil moisture is measured and displayed so you can make adjustments to get seeds into adequate moisture for proper and even emergence.

Measure the quantity of in-furrow residue and adjust row cleaners accordingly, ensuring residue won’t limit seed moisture uptake or transmit disease.
Soil Temperature
See real-time temperature as you are planting so you can make the right decision on when and where to plant, according to Mother Nature.

In any field, there are multiple field environments that determine yield potential. One of these differences is the amount of organic matter in varying soils. The more organic matter in the soil, the more water and nutrients it provides. By measuring and mapping organic matter with SmartFirmer, you can get a clear picture of variability in your fields, measured every planter pass.
Organic Matter » Variable Rate
Apply variable rate seeding or fertilizer rates, as well as hybrids, with ease using soil organic matter as the measurement that determines what rate of seed or fertilizer is applied. Simply set up a rate that you want for a given range of organic matter on the 20|20, then as the SmartFirmer senses the different organic matter levels in the field, it will prompt the planter to change rates automatically.
SmartFirmer pairs with the 20|20 in the cab plus vDrive, vApplyHD, and mSet on the planter in order to control different variables by organic matter.
